We have an exciting opportunity available for staff to help during our Game Day experience. In order to better support our students and the 911������ community during our upcoming home football games, we are looking for staff interested in additional work by scanning tickets. This is a compensated position that would pay $200 a game for approximately six hours. Learn more.

Starting at noon on Friday, Oct. 6 and finishing by 8 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 9, the University of Colorado Data Center will move to a new state-of-the-art data center in the Anschutz Health Sciences Building. While the CU data center’s physical components are being moved, all CU System-wide applications will be down such as MyCUInfo and most of the services linked within the MyCUInfo portal. We do not expect any impact to ReADY, AiM, Go, ArcGIS, File Servers (cotterpin/fmfiles), Meridian, BAS, CCURE, Milestone, Unifier, or Pitney Bowes; however, for our human resources and payroll professionals, this outage will impact HCM, employee and student portals, My Leave, FIN and dozens of other system wide applications.

FranklinCovey, which offers personal and professional development opportunities and resources, is available on an annual subscription that runs from Sept. 1 to Aug. 30 each year. The subscription cost is $136. All virtually facilitated courses and all online content are available through the subscription at no additional cost. Any additional FranklinCovey course facilitated in-person has an additional $35 per course materials fee. (Outside of 911������, each training can cost between $399 - $2,395 per course.) Learn more.

Last February, after receiving nearly 200 submissions, the 911������ transportation team announced the winning names of the electric bus naming contest: Ralph-E and Sko Bus. Now we're opening up the contest again so our community can help us brainstorm name ideas for our two newest electric Buff Buses! The top 10-ish name ideas will be selected by our Transportation committee, and then the community will be asked to vote to determine the two winning names. The deadline to submit name ideas is Oct. 15. Voting will run Oct. 23 through Nov. 3, and the winners will be announced the week of Nov. 13. .

I am nominating Jenny for a Star Award from my own experience and on behalf of multiple managers in Planning, Design & Construction (PD&C). Jenny has delivered outstanding performance over the past year. I have received numerous compliments on her work from coworkers, clients and PD&C managers. Jenny has shown the ability to navigate numerous challenges to deliver projects successfully. Her work on the east campus site lighting/security camera project, freeze repairs and multiple Koelbel renovations has been exemplary. Thank you Jenny for the positive impact you've had on your projects and the PD&C department! 

Kerry works tirelessly behind the scenes to make CU a highly welcoming and functional space.  On two occasions this month, she assisted with functions far outside any normally expected job duties. She assisted eagerly and with complete professional composure. Her impromptu assistance and spontaneous inputs made the outcomes far more significant than they would have been without her. Kerry is an invaluable asset!

Tom and Sam never hesitated to take time out of their already busy schedules to keep our two golf carts running during move-in. We had issues with depleted batteries, flat tires, a bent axle and replacing worn-out front tires — all within a few days during the very hectic move-in.  Without their generous assistance, we would have been in a world of pain. Thank you, Tom and Sam!!!

Due to the increased pedestrian traffic along Buff Walk, we are asking for everyone who drives a vehicle along this area to use their hazard lights  (aka “flashers”). Our goal is to bring greater awareness to pedestrians as our teams are driving in the Stadium area. When flashers are operating, this will also remind our drivers to be mindful of their speed while driving. This safety best practice will keep us all aware and safe throughout the day. As always…we appreciate your support!

The Intermountain Safety shoe truck will be here on campus at the GROC parking lot. If your work shoes need replacement, please plan to stop by Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2023, noon – 2 p.m.

If you need new safety shoes please download/print the (requires login to SharePoint), get it signed by your supervisor and bring it to the shoe truck with you. John McKee, electric shop (nominated by Deven Chavez)

A few weeks ago, John reached out to me from East campus to report an active safety hazard on a construction project. He reported an unprotected 20 foot fall hazard that had no barriers, signs or attendant. I communicated this with Don Fitzpatrick and he followed up with the appropriate parties to get the situation resolved.

Ben has been very observant with potential safety hazards. Ben recommends a crosswalk to be added across from Wardenburg. This is high pedestrian traffic from the parking lot and bus stop.

Thanks to Tony for removing a rug from the door at Ramaley. This was a serious tripping hazard and students could have fallen down the stairs.

Thank you to Deven and Craig for taking the lead on our new earplug safety initiative. This is a great observation because hearing protection is very important. Now other shops want to install these dispensers in other mech rooms.

The FM safety committee meets the third Tuesday of every month to:

• discuss general safety concerns
• review safety reports and on-the-job injuries
• identify training needs and recommend resources.
